United Filmmakers and Actors Meeting

I believe networking is a core component of success in any business. You can’t afford to be shy about who you or the work that you do.

When I attended the IFP Script to Screen conference, I made it a point to seek out and interact with like-minded filmmakers. There, I met Michael Wolfe, a “multi-hyphenate” who is gearing up work on his film Friendships and Trespasses.

Michael emailed me the other day and told me about the “United Filmmakers and Actors” group. I’d likely never of heard of it otherwise.

From the group’s meetup.com page

“This group is for people who are not content with merely waiting around for that elusive “big break,” but are ready to CREATE THEIR OWN PROJECTS to express their creative visions and take charge of their own future.

Come out and meet others interested in partnering: creatively, resources, as well as monetarily to make films. If you are an Actor, Writer, Filmmaker, or other, and have a project – or are interested in working on a project – and are seeking the help from others to make it happen, sign up, come out, PITCH YOUR PROJECT AND LISTEN TO SOME OTHER PITCHES.”

I’ll be attending one of their meetings tonight, and you should too!

[...] I’m finishing up a “very special” romantic comedy script with a writing partner. First draft will be done in the next two weeks. We have an “internal” table read lined up for revising purposes before it goes out to people who expressed interest in the project (Some of whom I met at United Filmmakers & Actors.) [...]
