Merrel Davis comes from an accomplished entertainment and technology background.
A graduate of SHEFFIELD INSTITUTE FOR THE RECORDING ARTS, Merrel spent 5 years in the government contracting sector supporting mission critical networks as a Help Desk Manager / System administrator. This was strange and new work for him. Merrel later supported electronic licensing systems at a large government integrator before redirecting towards television, film and web work.
Merrel leveraged his tech in the world of television. He worked as Q&A editor during the 2008 BEIJING OLYMPICS, later, he worked on an Emmy Award winning NAT GEO show CIA CONFIDENTIAL. At night, he attended the NEW YORK FILM ACADEMY completing their screenwriting program. His script “OBSOLESK” won best “Science Fiction” script AIFF 2010. The same year, Merrel optioned a feature script, and sold several animated scripts overseas. In 2011, he produced the documentary pilot CATTLE COUNTRY. He also provides field production support for the long running HGTV series MY FIRST PLACE.
Merrel has been a panelist and speaker at various screenwriting and filmmaking conferences. His scholarly articles about content creation, writing, best practices, tech and the industry have been published and syndicated internationally in print and web.
In brief moments of free time and clarity, Merrel plays piano and Call of Duty on his PS3. Every once in a while, he’ll do both at the same time. But mostly, he just looks good with a beard.
